HYBRID COMPOSITES
The physical and mechanical characteristics of polymer composites on basis of heterogeneous matrices, reinforced by hybid fillers, depend on specific nature of fillers, polymers, their interaction and conditioned by whole range of factors, mainly such a compatibility of polymers, ability of fillers to make structure, residual stress and relaxation properties of components of system.
For suchlike composites in many cases the so-called hybrideffects -positive or negative shifts from the dependence of additive properties judging by contents, including effects of synergism and antagonism, have been observed. These effects using can essentially widen the possibilities to regulate the properties of polymer composites, but at the present moment they can not be sufficiently predicted beforehand.
Hybrid effects in composites, mainly on the basis of polyolefine and ABS-polymers, containing combination of different type disperse fillers and granulate glassfibers, have been investigated. Fillers of different nature and dispersity (carbonates, silicates, carbones, metals and glassfibers were used.
Besides mechanical properties, the characteristics of electrical conductivity and water sorption for same specific composite groups have been determined in order to obtain information on the peculiarities of the frame structure of fillers.
For composites containing combination of disperse fillers with glassfibers the value of hybrideffects for rigidity and strength goes up to 100% and more and it depends nature of fillers as well as on the kind of glassfiber surface treatment. The hybrideffects occur also relating to electrical conductivity, thermostability, water sorption etc.
Crystallization in hybrid matrices on basis PP containing small amounts of LDPE was shown to proceed more rapidly than that in pure PP. This effect was more pronounced in the presence of a mineral filler.
Using principles of hybridization new construction and functional polymer composites and their production and experimental technologies have been designed.
